Working with others to achieve our goal
The Vaseline Skin Fund works across the globe with a range of charities, non-profit and public organizations and educational institutions. Our local teams work with these partners to find the projects we can support, which usually fall into one of two categories.
• Educating frontline skincare professionals so they can give their patients the latest advice on the prevention and treatment of skin conditions
• Supporting partner organizations who provide information and support directly to people affected by skin conditions.
We choose all our projects with one global target in view – to help at least three million people with skin conditions get greater access to knowledge, advice, and support by 2012.
Some of the projects we currently support include:
Supplying free Vaseline Petroleum Jelly through relevant charities to people who may need it most.
Helping the USA’s National Eczema Association develop an Eczema and Sensitive Skin Education (EASE) online resource centre. www.easeeczema.org
Working with the Coalition of Skin Diseases on a poster and tear-off pad that helps dermatologists to identify the 15 most common skin conditions, and supporting development of their website. www.coalitionofskindiseases.org
Funding a Continuing Medical Education (CME) unit through the University of California, Irvine, to help medical professionals all over the world stay up to date on the latest information about skin conditions, launching in 2009.
We have also supported and taken part in patient and medical conferences around the world, including
• The Skin Erosion Conference (USA)
• Ectodermal Dysplasia Society (UK)
• National Foundation for Ectodermal Dysplasias (NFED) (USA)
• National Eczema Association (NEA) (USA)
• European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (Austria)
